My Visit from a Friend

Several years ago my wife and I would stop by our favorite Asian store to purchase rice, tea, and other things we had need of.  There were two brothers that ran the place.  The one brother was younger than the other.  The older one, I had a great liking for, for he was quite quiet, and had the appearance of Laughing Buddha.

Every time he was there, when we were, I could feel his calm energy, such calmness that whenever I was in his presence, I felt tranquil as well.

In the early morning hours like around 1:30 AM I was sitting by my computer.  During that time, my wife was sound asleep.

Suddenly I felt a presence of someone standing to my right behind me.  When I turned to look, it was him.  I turned away for a moment, for I was quite shocked at what I saw, but, when I turned back, he was gone.

Not long after, my wife and I returned to their store.  It was then that his younger brother told us that his older brother passed on.  When I heard that, my tears built up in my eyes.

I told his brother what I saw, and he totally believed me.

When looking back on that ghostly encounter that took place, it truly touches my heart that he would come to say goodbye to me, letting me know everything was okay.

Before his passing on, I wish I could have gotten to know him better but, the only time I'd see him, was when my wife and I were in his store.

  1. There are times when we feel that we know all that we need to about life and death. Then a friend stops by to say a silent goodbye. The mystery of how or why this happened is not ours to question. Time may reveal the answer someday and then we, too will have the key to the mystery of death. In the meantime you were able to see a friend for one last goodbye 💮

  2. How lovely that he stopped by to let you know he was okay. I hope you can build the same sort of relationship with his younger brother.
